Your contribution will help us continue providing science that informs healthier choices, stronger public policies, and greener alternatives.
Silent Spring Institute has pioneered the study of endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) and breast carcinogens that may affect breast cancer and other cancers. These chemicals are found in a multitude of products including plastics, cleaning products, home furnishings, fragrances, and cosmetics.
The Institute’s Household Exposure Study is the most comprehensive study of EDCs inside homes. This ongoing work is one of the driving forces behind the emerging field of green chemistry and contributes to new ways of testing to make sure that chemicals and products are safe for human health.
Silent Spring’s research, including our comprehensive database of breast carcinogens, is the foundation for the Institute of Medicine’s new 2011 recommendations about environmental chemicals and breast cancer.

The promise of prevention is enormous. To capitalize on this potential and to build on our groundbreaking work, Silent Spring Institute established The Women’s Environmental Health Fund.
Gifts to The Women’s Environmental Health Fund will enable Silent Spring Institute to grow our research program and provide the scientific underpinnings for public policies that advance breast cancer prevention.
We invite you to contribute to The Women’s Environmental Health Fund at Silent Spring Institute at any level.
