THE SUSAN S. BAILIS BREAST CANCER RESEARCH FUND
Susan Bailis was an eloquent champion of the need for innovative research
on breast
cancer with the goal of identifying possible environmental factors of
this disease. When she
succumbed to breast cancer in 2000, Susan left a legacy of hope for women
and families
in the fund that bears her name. The Susan S. Bailis
Breast Cancer Research Fund supports
Silent Spring Institute’s pioneering research, including studies
of pollutants from common
products like pesticides, detergents, and plastics containing chemicals
that mimic estrogen
or affect other hormones. The Fund provides critically important resources
that enable the
Institute to continue its work.
