Excerpt: A study released this week by a Newton breast cancer research foundation found traces of pharmaceuticals, personal care products and flame retardants, among other chemicals, in a majority of wells tested across Cape Cod.
But the contaminants were detected in low concentrations, and researchers have not yet identified any detrimental health effects, said Silent Spring Institute environmental researcher Dr. Laurel Schaider, who led the study.
