Ellen Calmas, founding chair of the Friends of Silent Spring Institute, sat down with recipients of this year’s Rachel Carson Advocacy Award the other night. The trio - former politico Marjorie Clapprood, socialite Marilyn Riseman, and Judi Hirshfield-Bartek, breast cancer activist and oncology nurse - will be honored May 6 at the Friends of Silent Spring Institute Dinner. Joan and Ted Cutler are honorary chairs.
