BYU Radio, Top of the Mind with Julie Rose - Parabens in Body Lotions

December 8, 2015

BYU Radio's Top of the Mind with Julie Rose hosted Silent Spring Institute's Director of Research Ruthann Rudel on Tuesday, December 8. The program featured the Silent Spring and UC Berkeley study released in October 2015 regarding parabens and their relationship to breast cancer risk.

Excerpt: Cold dry winter climates like Utah make for lots of lotion use. There are so many choices at the drug store, finding the right lotion for your skin can seem like trial and error. The message from some new research out of UC Berkeley and the Silent Spring Institute, which studies environmental health issues, is to steer clear of lotions that include parabens.
