phthalate

One of a broad suite of organic chemicals—identified as endocrine disrupting compounds—that are important for breast cancer research. Most people are exposed to low levels of phthalates in air, water, and food. Phthalates are found in commercial products, such as plastics, toys, nail polish, perfume, paint, glue, hair spray, and other household products. Significant research attention is currently focused on effects of phthalates on the male reproductive system.
