A compound from the organochlorine family used in insecticides and fumigants. Although all uses of chlordane have been banned in the United States since 1988, the chemical can still be detected in dust, soil, air, fish, meat, and breast milk. Evidence from laboratory and wildlife research shows chlordane to be estrogenic.
