bisphenol A (BPA)

An industrial chemical used to make polycarbonate plastic, epoxy resin linings for food and beverage cans, thermal paper receipts, and other products. It is one of a broad suite of organic chemicals—identified as endocrine disrupting compounds—that are important for breast cancer research. Exposure to BPA has been associated with effects on the developing brain, and mammary and prostate glands in laboratory studies.
